Twisted Imaginings Vol 1 & 2- a review

I love short stories. As someone who doesn’t always leave myself a lot of time for reading, a short story is the perfect compromise. They fit into the quiet pockets of my life; a little reading before bed, waiting in the parking lot for my kids to make it out to the car, sitting in a waiting room… we’ve all been there.

I found a series of short story collections called Twisted Imaginings by author Garry Charles on Smashwords for free.  In preparing to write this review, I looked on Amazon to see if he had a listing there, but it doesn’t appear that he does.  I hope he remedies this because I think his work would sell well to that bigger audience.

At the time of writing this, I’ve read volumes 1 and 2 and am halfway through volume 3.  Each volume seems to consist of 2 short horror stories. And what well written and creepy stories they are.  Charles’ stories pack a lot of terror into such short packages.  He does a wonderful job of building up an atmosphere that starts raising the hairs on the back of your neck before anything has even happened.

I would recommend these stories to any fan of horror.  I will definitely be reading the rest of these volumes and anything else I can find with his name on the cover.
